Indiana Citizens' Alliance for Transit Meeting

On Friday, November 14, we presented our ideas to the Indiana Citizens' Alliance for Transit (ICAT). The Citizens' Alliance is uniting organizations and citizens under one single voice to address mass transit issues and advocate for the immediate development and ongoing support of comprehensive transit options in communities across Indiana. We are elated to work with the Citizens' Alliance in implementing a solution.

The Indiana Citizens' Alliance for Transit will have a public launch in the coming months. To learn more and to get involved visit ICAT's website.

Many thanks to ICAT's Steering Committee for inviting us to participate in this worthy initiative.

What a great project you have going! Nice to see such "progressive" ideas happening in the state I grew up in. I'm now living in Denver, CO and light rail has been here and growing substantially for the last decade. However, the last big bond passed hasn't been enough - RTD has been having huge problems with cost increases with materials, land, and labor. It's sad to see all the great ideas getting "VE'd" down to bare minimum stations, and in some cases even one track vs. two for the extended lines. Denver did a joint study with Portland OR a few decades back and didn’t act – they waited. Portland went forward and implemented everything they could. Visit Portland to see how it should be done! Denver is going in the right direction, but with fits and starts. It will be interesting to see if Indiana can recognize that more roads don’t equal better traffic/easier access. Good luck with your project and quest.
